Custom Branded Blankets: A Practical Guide to Corporate Gifting That Sticks

If you’ve ever spent a budget on corporate swag and then watched it disappear into desk drawers and donation bins, you already know the problem. The bar for corporate gifting has moved. Branded pens, stress balls, and lanyards used to be enough. Today, employees, clients, donors, and partners expect something they would actually take home. A custom branded blanket lands in that gap. It’s practical, it’s used, and when it’s made right, it carries your logo somewhere the recipient genuinely wants it.

We’ve been manufacturing fleece blankets since 1996, and we’ve watched custom branded blankets become one of the most requested categories in our corporate gifting program. This guide is the version we wish every corporate buyer had before placing their first order. It covers what makes a blanket a smart gift, the customization methods that hold up, the ordering details you need to plan around, and how to choose the right fabric so the gift matches the moment.

Why a Custom Branded Blanket Outperforms Other Corporate Gifts

A custom branded blanket gets used. That single difference changes the math on your gifting program. Pens get lost in the bottom of a bag. T-shirts that don’t fit get donated. A blanket goes from the conference giveaway table to the couch, the car, the dorm, the home office. Your logo travels with it.

For a corporate gifting buyer, that means three practical things. First, your spend sticks around longer, which compounds the value of every dollar. Second, the gift signals to the recipient that you put thought into something they would actually want. Third, the blanket keeps your brand visible in the recipient’s daily life, rather than landing as a one time logo flash at an event.

Blankets also scale across audience types in a way most gifts can’t. The same product line works for employee appreciation, client thank-you’s, donor recognition, conference keepsakes, board gifts, and onboarding kits. You don’t have to source different gifts for different recipients. You change the customization, the fabric, and the quantity, and the same supplier handles the rest.

Embroidery vs. Laser Etching: Which Customization Method Fits Your Brand

We offer two primary customization methods for custom branded blankets: embroidery and laser etching. They produce different visual effects and suit different brand registers.

Embroidery uses precision stitching to recreate your logo or design directly on the blanket. The result is textured, classic, and reads as high-end. Embroidered logos hold up through years of washing without fading. For financial firms, law offices, luxury hospitality groups, and any brand whose visual identity leans traditional or premium, embroidery is the safe bet. Pricing is based on stitch count, so simpler logos cost less than dense or detailed designs. Our embroidery program has a 48-unit minimum per design, which is separate from the case minimum on the product itself.

Laser etching is the modern counterpart. Instead of stitching, a laser burns your design directly into the surface of the fabric, creating a tone on tone visual that is sharp, architectural, and clean. Etching looks especially striking on Sherpa fleece, where the contrast between the etched and un-etched fibers creates a sophisticated visual depth. Tech companies, creative agencies, design forward retailers, and lifestyle brands tend to gravitate toward etching for that exact reason. Etching pricing is based on design size and complexity rather than stitch count, which makes it cost effective for larger or more intricate logos.

If your brand identity is traditional, polished, and color forward, lead with embroidery. If your brand is modern, monochrome, or design led, look at laser etching.

Choosing the Right Fabric for the Gift

The customization is only half of the decision. The fabric carries the rest of the impression. We manufacture three fleece fabrics that handle the bulk of corporate gifting orders, and each suits a different gifting tier.

Deluxe Fleece, also called polar fleece, is our most affordable option and the workhorse of large-volume programs. It is durable, machine washable, hypo-allergenic, and shows embroidery cleanly. Reach for Deluxe when your priority is reach: outfitting an entire workforce, distributing at a multi-thousand attendee event, or sending a thoughtful baseline gift to a long client list.

Cloud Mink is our gift-ready premium fabric. The texture is silky-smooth and ultra-plush, with an anti-pill velour finish on both sides. Cloud Mink ships individually packaged in a reusable vinyl zip bag with a rope carry handle, which means it arrives looking like a real gift before the recipient even unfolds it. Reach for Cloud Mink for donor recognition, sponsor thank-you’s, executive gifts, and any program where the unboxing matters as much as the blanket.

Sherpa Fleece is the heaviest and plushest option, with a textured cloud-like interior and a smooth exterior. It is the right pick for major donor recognition, executive milestone gifts, premium client appreciation, and any moment where you want the blanket to feel like a serious investment. Sherpa pairs beautifully with laser etching for a refined, tone-on-tone branded look.

Minimums, Lead Times, and What to Plan Around

Custom branded blankets are sold by the case, with a one case minimum. The exact case count varies by SKU (12, 16, 20, or another number depending on the style), so confirm the case quantity for the specific blanket you are considering before committing to a number. After the case minimum, you can add any number of additional singles to round out your total. A one case order plus six singles is fine, which means your final quantity matches what you actually need.

Embroidery and Laser Etching require a separate 48-unit minimum per design. Standard turnaround on stock fabrics is fast, and we can quote rush production for time sensitive order. Our team will walk you through art approval, proofing, and final delivery on every order, and we’ll flag any timing risk before it becomes a problem.

What You Get When You Order Direct From the Manufacturer

Northeast Fleece has been factory direct for 30 years, and fleece blankets are the only product we make. We are specialists, not a generalist catalog with thousands of SKUs where fleece is one option among many. That single category focus is what lets us hold consistent quality across every case, pass through factory pricing, and answer specific questions about fabric weight, embroidery fit, and color matching from real working knowledge.

Our origin runs back to the early days of Polartec, alongside Patagonia and LL Bean, when fleece first redefined the outdoor industry. That depth shows up in every case we ship.

It also shows up in the way we run customer service. When you call, you’ll always talk to a real human. When you email, a real human responds. We hold a BBB A+ rating, and many of our corporate gifting customers have been ordering from us for 10, 15, even 20 years. That kind of relationship is what we built the business on.
