Wholesale Fleece Blankets: A Bulk Buyer’s Guide to Choosing the Right Fabric, Weight, and Quality

Buying wholesale fleece blankets sounds simple until you actually start comparing. The first supplier you ask shows you four fabrics with names you’ve never heard of, three different weights, and prices that swing wildly depending on the order size. The next supplier shows you something different. By your third quote, you’re not sure what’s actually a quality difference and what’s just marketing.

We’ve been manufacturing wholesale fleece blankets for 30 years. We sell only fleece blankets, which means we’ve spent three decades watching buyers make great choices and watching buyers regret rushed ones. This guide pulls together the things you actually need to know before you place a bulk order: how to read a fabric spec, what GSM weight to look at, what anti-pill construction really means, and what to expect on minimums and turnaround.

Understanding Fleece Weight and What GSM Actually Tells You

Fleece weight is measured in grams per square meter, or GSM. The number doesn’t translate directly to warmth or quality, but it does tell you how the blanket will feel and how it will perform.

Lighter fleece, in the 100 to 200 GSM range, is breathable, packable, and quick-drying. It’s well suited to warm weather giveaways, spring promotional events, summer camp programs, and situations where the blanket has to ship and store easily. Mid-weight fleece, around 200 GSM, is the year round workhorse for shelters, religious organizations, schools, and general nonprofit distribution. Our Standard Charity Relief Blanket sits at 200 GSM and is the everyday pick for high volume charity work. Heavier polyester fleece around 300 GSM is the right call for cold weather outreach and disaster relief, where the blanket has to perform when the temperature drops. Our Arctic Relief Blanket sits at 300 GSM for exactly that. Plush Sherpa fleece is heavier, richer, and runs at a higher price point, which makes it the natural pick for premium corporate gifting, executive client appreciation, and weddings rather than bulk charity programs.

GSM is one variable, not the whole picture. A heavier blanket isn’t automatically a better blanket. A 200 GSM blanket woven from premium fibers will outperform a 300 GSM blanket made from cheap stock. Use GSM as a sizing tool for fit to purpose. Use the fabric type and the manufacturer’s quality controls to evaluate performance.

Fleece Fabric Types: What Each One Does Best

There are several fleece fabrics on the wholesale market, and the names are not always consistent across suppliers. Here is how we describe and produce ours.

Deluxe Fleece also called polar fleece, is the original synthetic fleece that redefined the outdoor industry in the 1980s. It is durable, lightweight, machine washable, hypo-allergenic, and quick to dry. Deluxe is the go to for high volume programs and anywhere the blanket has to take real wear: schools, large nonprofits, employee giveaways, and disaster relief.

Cloud Mink is our gift-ready premium fabric. The texture is silky-smooth and ultra-plush, with an anti-pill velour finish on both sides. Each Cloud Mink ships individually in a reusable vinyl zip bag with a rope carry handle, which makes it the natural pick for corporate gifting programs, donor recognition, and weddings.

Sherpa Fleece is heavier and plush, with a textured cloud-like interior that mimics natural sheepskin. Sherpa is the premium option for major donor recognition, executive client gifts, and milestone moments where the recipient should feel the gift the second they unfold it. Sherpa also takes laser etching beautifully for tone-on-tone branded designs.

Our two most popular bulk SKUs sit inside this fleece family and are built specifically for high volume charity work. The Standard Charity Relief Blanket is 200 GSM polyester fleece, 60 by 80 inches, 30 blankets per case, and is the year-round workhorse for shelters, religious organizations, and humanitarian outreach. The Arctic Relief Blanket is the same size in 300 GSM polyester fleece, 20 blankets per case, and is the heavier weight pick for cold weather charity drives and disaster relief. Both are brushed soft on both sides, fire-retardant to the ASTM D4151 standard, machine washable, individually vacuum packed and sanitized, and sold under our Fleece for Peace program at a 25% discount with free shipping and tax exemption for qualifying nonprofits.

If you’re sizing up a different use case, we will send samples of any fabric you’re considering so you can compare weight, hand feel, and customization in hand before committing.

Why Anti-Pill Construction Matters

If a fleece blanket pills, it loses its visual quality fast. Pilling is the small balls of fiber that form when loose fibers tangle on the surface, and it shows up after just a few washes on lower grade fleece. For a buyer responsible for branded blankets distributed to clients, donors, employees, or students, pilling turns a premium gift into something that looks tired by the time the recipient has actually used it.

Anti-pill construction means the fleece has been engineered to resist that fiber tangling. Every fleece blanket we manufacture is anti-pill rated. We test for it as part of our in-house quality control, alongside color fastness, shrinkage, and tensile strength, and any blanket that doesn’t meet our standard does not leave the facility. The result is a blanket that still looks professional after a year of use and a stack of washes.

When you’re comparing wholesale suppliers, anti-pill is a non-negotiable. Ask about the manufacturer’s test process, not just the marketing copy on the product page. If a supplier can’t tell you how they verify anti-pill performance, that’s a meaningful signal.

Customization Options for Bulk Orders

Most wholesale fleece blanket buyers want the option to add a logo, name, or design. We offer two primary customization methods.

Embroidery uses precision stitching to recreate your design directly on the blanket. It produces a textured, classic, premium look and holds up through years of washing. Pricing is based on stitch count. Embroidery requires a 48-unit minimum per design, which is separate from the product case minimum. It’s the right pick for traditional brands, school programs, and corporate identity work where the visual is polished and timeless.

Laser etching uses a precision laser to burn your design into the surface of the fleece. The effect is sharp, modern, and architectural, with a striking tone-on-tone visual on Sherpa fleece in particular. Etching is the right pick for design forward brands, tech companies, and creative agencies whose visual identity reads modern and minimal.

Minimums, Pricing, and One Case Minimum

Wholesale fleece blankets are sold by the case. Our product minimum is one case. The exact case count varies by style, so confirm the count for your specific SKU before you commit to a quantity. After you hit the case minimum, you can add any number of additional single blankets to round out your order. A one case order plus six singles is fine. That flexibility means your final quantity matches what you actually need rather than forcing you to over order to hit the next case threshold.

Pricing is volume based. The more you buy, the more you save per unit. Free shipping is included on bulk orders within the continental United States. For overseas custom orders (5,000 unit minimum), production runs 10 to 12 weeks and pricing is generally up to 50 percent less than stock orders, quoted on request.

What You Get When You Buy Direct From the Specialist

Wholesale fleece blanket buyers are usually working against the same set of pressures: a fixed budget, a tight delivery window, and a need for consistent quality across every blanket in the order. The supplier you choose determines how those pressures get handled.

We are North America’s largest wholesale fleece blanket manufacturer, and fleece blankets are the only product we make. We are specialists, not a generalist catalog with thousands of SKUs where fleece is one option among many. That specialist focus is what lets us hold consistent quality across every case, pass through factory pricing, and answer specific questions about fabric weight, embroidery hoop fit, and color matching from real working knowledge. And our customer service team knows the product inside and out.

We were one of the first companies to use Polartec, alongside Patagonia and LL Bean, when fleece first redefined the outdoor industry. That depth shows up in every case we ship.
